Charing's prayer letter (May 28, 2017)

Dear friends:

I have finished the second semester in Chicago Theological Seminary.
In that period, I took (1) Religious Liberty and LGBTQ Equality (2) Judges and Women (3) Biblical Laws and Ethics of Interpretation (4) Ph.D. Workshop. I also sat in the class (5) The Interpretation of Hebrew Bible, which a female Rabbi Professor bought us lots of Jewish perspectives.

Otherwise, I also finished the teaching seminar of Wabash Center for doctoral students. That will help to improve my teaching skills and reflections.

There is two good news.
I was offered "Adrienne M. and Charles Shelby Rooks Fellowship" from United Church of Christ, for Ph.D. students and "2017-8 Gilberto Castaneda Scholar Awards" from Chicago Theological Seminary for LGBTQ advocator. Those will help a lot in my second year learning in Chicago.

In the coming summer, I will take a course name "Queer Feminist Biblical Interpretation" and Frech. At the same time, I will translate a book from English to Mandarin titled "Signs of Love: A guild for deaf ministry." I also plan to write down a draft for queer biblical hermeneutics to summarize my study so far and get ready to publish someday in Taiwan.

The ordination process in United Church of Christ continues. I am also the Sunday school teacher with 8 junior high students. I am fine here, although the studying is challenging, I have friends.

It's all the grace from God.
And please keep me in your prayer.

Best wishes!!

Charing
